NMAM Institute of Technology part of the Nitte Education Trust, was established in 1986.Initially it was started in three disciplines - Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Electronics & Communication Engineering.Set up in a picturesque environment, in an interior area of South Canara it soon went on to become a major landmark town near Karkala.

As the students flourished, three more branches Civil Engineering, Industrial Production Engineering and Electrical & Electronics Engineering were added.Though always in the shadow of other two more popular colleges NITK Suratkal & MIT Manipal,Nitte continued raising steadily the quality of education being provided.Computer Science branch grew more popularly as many students who passed out got lucrative jobs.
